Reading as Ultramarathon

After knocking off a few other things on my list, I’m finally ready to tackle Mark Twain’s Autobiography. Anyone else out there making a run at it? Preliminary thoughts? Tips? Especially interested in thoughts on reading the footnotes and other scholarly info…what’s the cost/benefit in this case?
